REAL, the Responsible Education about Life Act (H.R. 1653, S.972) is federal legislation that would provide money to states for programs that provide honest, medically accurate, complete, age-appropriate sex education—programs that the public strongly supports and that studies show can be effective in helping teens stay healthy.
Indiana People of Faith are for REAL!
Abstinence-only programs in Indiana don't work. Despite spending over $8.5 million on abstinence-only programs, our state has the 13th highest teen birth rank of any state, and the number of teens and young adults diagnosed with STDs has been on the rise.
Comprehensive sex education works. It can delay the age when young people become sexually active and increase contraceptive use among youth already sexually active. As people of faith, we believe it is a moral imperative to provide teens with all the information they need to make responsible and informed decisions about their health.

Dear Senator/Representative,
As people of faith, we believe it is a moral imperaticve to provide young people with the information they need to protect themselves from disease and unintended pregnancy. We call on public officials and policy makers to ensure that age appropriate, medically accurate comprehensive sex education is taught in the schools. Please support REAL, the Responsible Education about Life Act (H.R. 1653, S.972).
*Approximately every two months IRCRC will compile names and send them to Indiana Senators and U.S. Representatives. Thank you! |
