Sunday, Jan. 16, 2005, 2:00pm-5:15pm, Trinity United Methodist Church, 404 N. 6th St., Lafayette IN
An informative and engaging workshop with special guest Barbara Kavadias from the national RCRC and several local clergy

clergy panel

Above, the Clergy Panel. A Church of the Brethren minister, a Jewish Rabbi, and a Baptist minister shared their thoughts. We learned about Jewish teachings relating to pregnancy. We learned about how the personal experience of a teenage friend informs one clergyperson's beliefs. And we learned how clergy can be most helpful and supportive when women are faced with a difficult decision.

Guest speaker with 2 friendsThis very successful event featured a presentation by Sue Errington, Director of Public Policy of Planned Parenthood of Indiana. We learned about Indiana's restrictive laws relating to sexuality education and a major new initiative for change called "Truth For Youth." About 40 people attended. Many thanks to everyone who helped make this event possible. (Above, left: guest speaker, Sue Errington. At right: Sue with two friends from the local area.)

IRCRC President Kaye M.Presentation at "Get Out the Vote" Rally on Sunday, Oct. 31, 2004.
Excerpt from speech by IRCRC President Kaye McSpadden:

"Before you cast your vote, consider the candidates' records and statements on reproductive rights. Ask the candidates questions such as: will you support legislation to require all hospitals tomake emergency contraception available to rape victims? Will you support funding for comprehensive sex education programs? And will you support and protect the legal right of every individual to make their own reproductive decisions in keeping with THEIR religious beliefs, not yours? Tell the politicians you are a person of faith and you care about religious freedom and reproductive rights and health -- they will listen if you tell them, and show them, with your vote!"

"Sex on the Mall" -- an information fair sponsored by VOX at Purdue University on Oct. 29, 2004. IRCRC sponsored a table. It was a great success!
